Nam June Paik’s study drawings display a childlike and playful mood, and his typical drawings are composed of wild lines of different colors with certain subject matters drawn on top of the lines, as seen in this work. One of the often-drawn themes is a sun-like flower; tassels or musical notes dangling from the flowers’ leaves can also be seen. The layered strokes of lines appear primitive and primordial. The word “Eden” written on the upper-left corner seems to point to a bitter-sweet life.
