Library
Its mission is to help the public and researchers use art and cultural materials as a specialized public library for arts and culture.
Nam June Paik Library was designed by New York-based architects N H D M (www.nhdm.net). ‘Library Machine,’ which incorporated Paik’s concept of “Random Access” in a spatial manner, is an attempt to reinterpret the traditional space of library and its functions. The Library continues to perform its role as a space for specialized research as well as an open cultural platform.
Nam June Paik Library is divided by function into two parts: Small Library on the first floor and Research Library on the second floor. Small Library was supported by the Small Library Project in Yongin-si and Gyeonggi-do. Small Library has an increased number of popular books on different disciplines such as literature, design, travel and children in addition to art and cultural periodicals, offering free access to the public. Research Library, which holds domestic and foreign catalogues, technical books and academic journals, is available for professional researchers on an appointment basis. Nam June Paik Library’s books can be searched in the Nam June Paik Art Center’s Database (db.njpartcenter.kr).
